Bose Monastic Community issues statement on the forthcoming expulsion of the monks from the Monastery of the Caves in Kiev.
The Bose Monastic Community in Italy has issued a statement with regard to the serious situation in which the Orthodox faithful of Ukraine find themselves and pointing towards actions “aimed more and more openly at the humiliation” of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
“Yet one more piece of dramatic news emerged a few days ago that before the 29th March the monks of the famous Monastery of the Caves in Kiev will be expelled from this ancient and venerated monastic house, and the premises now occupied by the authoritative theological academy will also have to be vacated if the occupants do not submit to another Ukrainian ecclesiastical jurisdiction. We received this news with great sadness,” the statement notes.
The Bose Monastic Community called down “God’s mercy upon the Ukrainian people, upon Christians throughout the whole world and particularly upon the monks of the Monastery of the Caves,” as well as calling upon all to pray for the restoration of peace.
