DECR Communication Service, 16.03.2023.
On March 16, the Hungarian version of Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary’s book Jesus Christ. Biography was presented at the Peter Pazmany Catholic University in Budapest.
Present at the event were Hungarian Vice-Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén; Cardinal Péter Erdő, Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest; Apostolic Nuncio in Hungary Archbishop Michael Wallace Banach; Bishop Lucian of Budima (Serbian Orthodox Church), Hungary’s Secretary of State for the Affairs of Religious Communities Miklos Soltes; representatives of Christian Churches, public and cultural figures.
Papers were presented by rector of the university Rev. Dr Géza Kuminetz and dean of the Peter Pazmany University’s theological faculty Bishop Levente Balázs Martos.
This was followed by the author’s presentation of his book speaking about the history of its creation. He noted that the Gospel is like a safe that needs two keys to be opened - one is the faith that Jesus Christ was God and another is the faith that He was a fully-fledged man. Without this faith, it is impossible to understand the essence of the Gospel’s story.
In conclusion of the presentation, Vice Premier Zsolt Semjén delivered a speech in which he pointed to the considerable contribution made by Metropolitan Hilarion in the development of theology, music art and church life of Hungary. He also stressed that the Orthodox Church in the persons of her representatives serves for the peaching of the Gospel, peace and love.
