DECR chairman arrives in Buenos-Aires to attend round-table conference on church work with compatriots

On February 6, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relation Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, with a blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, arrived in the Argentinian capital to attend a round-table conference on ‘The Russian Orthodox Church and compatriots: the experience of co-work in Latin American countries’ to take place on February 7-8.
The DECR chairman is accompanied by a delegation of the synodal institution including Archpriest Nikolay Leshchenko, vice-chairman; Archpriest Sergiy Zvonaryov, secretary for the affairs of the diaspora; and Rev. Alexander Yershov, assistant to the DECR chairman.
At the Buenos-Aires airport, the Moscow delegation was met by Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America; D. G. Dyachkov, minister-counsellor of the Russian embassy in Argentina; Archpriest Sergey Yudin, secretary of the Diocese of Argentina and rector of the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Buenos-Aires; as well as staff members of the Russian embassy.
On the same day, Metropolitan Anthony and the delegation were welcomed by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Argentina D. V. Feoktistov.
The round-table conferences devoted to compatriots have been held since 2009 in various regions of the world. In total, there were ten regional meetings. The current meeting is the eleventh and the second one in Latin America. The first round-table took place in the Argentinian capital in 2010.
