His Holiness Patriarch Kirill meets with Chairman of the Muslim Board of the Caucasus Sheikh-ul-Islam Allah-Shuqur Pashazade

On December 7, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia met at the St. Daniel Monastery in Moscow with the chairman of the Muslim Board of the Caucasus, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allah-Shuqur Pashazade.
They were joined by Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), vice-chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Participating in the meeting from the Azerbaijani side was the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation, Mr Polad Bulbul-oglu.
‘I would like to cordially greet you, dear brother’, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill said addressing the guest. We used to meet on a regular basis. I believe we should continue these meetings’.
According to His Holiness, such contacts create a good atmosphere, and also have a positive impact on the inter-state relations and help to solve ‘the problems that unfortunately still remain unsolved’.
Speaking about the trilateral format of contacts between the religious leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, which were initiated three decades ago, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church noted, ‘I believe, especially at times of conflicts we should multiply our efforts, seeking to make a positive impact on the situation, on the participants in official negotiations so that by God’s mercy it would be possible to reach results and change the situation for the better’.
The Chairman of the Muslim Board of the Caucasus conveyed to His Holiness a greeting from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people.
They also stressed the special importance of dialogue between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia for the restoration of peaceful life after the long years of war in Nagorno-Karabakh.
In conclusion of the talk the sides exchanged tokens of the meeting.
