DECR Communication Service, 22.11.2022.
In October 2022, courses for students from Orthodox Tanzanian families started in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with the support of the Russian Center for Science and Culture and the Kisarawe Educational Сenter. With a blessing of the Patriarchal Exarch for Africa, Metropolitan Leonid of Klin, the classes are held by A. V. Lyulka, a missionary and teacher.
According to the Exarchate’s website report, along with general educational disciplines necessary for the certificate of secondary education, students from 15 to 20-year-old study the Russian language and basics of Orthodoxy. The general programme is set to last for two years. Young Orthodox Tanzanians, who could not receive school education for various reasons, now have an opportunity for receive it.
On Sundays, students assemble for the liturgy at the Russian Center for Science and Culture. After the service, Archimandrite Zachariah (Mulingva) holds catechetical talks.
‘I am grateful to our priest in Dar-es-Saalam, Constantine Shoki, who coordinates the project, Ms M.V. Pateyeva, director of the Russian Science and Culture Center, our partners in Kisarawe Educational Center’, wrote Metropolitan Leonid in his Telegram Channel.
It is already the second realized educational project of the Patriarchal Exarchate for Africa along with the general education school in the Central African Republic.
