Divine Liturgy is celebrated on the commemoration day of St. John the Theologian on his burial site in Turkey

On October 9, the commemoration day of St. John the Theologian, Apostle and Evangelist, Rev. Georgy Sergeyev, responsible for taking pastoral care of the Russian-speaking faithful in the territory of the Republic of Turkey, celebrated Divine Liturgy at the basilica built on the site of the Apostle’s tomb in the town of Selçuk located 1 mile northeast of the ancient city of Ephesus, Turkey.
Praying at the service were many pilgrims from Istanbul, Izmir, Kuşadasi, Çeşme and Bodrum.
After the Liturgy, Fr. Georgy delivered a sermon and thanked the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the permission to celebrate, and Mr. Andrei V. Ponomarev, chairman of the Solzhenitsyn Association of Russian language and literature study, for arranging the pilgrimage.
