Humanitarian aid is delivered to Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa parishes
DECR Communication Service, 12.09.2022.
Food crisis has hit at deprived families in poor countries above all others, including countries of pastoral responsibility of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa. Parishioners are facing a threat of famine, especially in African provinces.
Clergymen led by Rev. Georgy Maksimov, chair of the Exarchate’s Missionary Department, handed over food packages to the needy families in nine Nigerian parishes in Lagos, Anambra, Delta and Benue states. Also, schoolchildren received study kits for a new school year.
On September 10, website of the Patriarchate reported that over two hundred families have received three tons of food packages, which included also rice and candies, as well as over two thousand study kits.
Humanitarian aid was handed over after the divine service on Sunday, September 4.
“I thank all benefactors who have rendered assistance to the Exarchate’s clergy and flock, most important and much-in-demand even more so today,” wrote Metropolitan Leonid of Klin, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, on his Telegram channel.
