DECR chairman meets with delegation of Coptic Church

On September 5, in the German city of Karlsruhe, which is hosting the 11th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR) met with a delegation of the Coptic Church.
The Coptic Church was represented by Metropolitan Serapion of Los Angeles, co-chair of the Commission for bilateral dialogue between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Coptic Church; Archbishop Angaelos of the Coptic diocese of London; Bishop Abraham, the auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Los Angeles; Bishop Thomas of El Qussia: and Ms Barbara Soliman, director of the papal office for projects and relations.
The Russian Orthodox Church was represented by Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, co-chair of the Commission for bilateral dialogue between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Coptic Church; hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations; Rev. Iliya Kosykh, head of the DECR communication service; Rev. Alexander Yershov, research assistant to the DECR chairman; hierodeacon Petr (Akhmatkhanov) of the DECR; and Mr. Vakhtang V. Kipshidze, deputy chairman of the Synodal Department for Church’s Relations with Society and Mass Media.
The participants discussed the further development of relations between the two Churches and issues related to their common work in the World Council of Churches.
