Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia visits Sorong and Manokwari in the Indonesian province of West Papua

On August 17, 2022, Metropolitan Sergy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia, visited a parish of St. Moses Murin in the city of Sorong in the Indonesian province of West Papua, Patriarchia.ru reports with reference to the website of the Patriarchal Exarchate.
Metropolitan Sergy celebrated a prayer service, ordained parishioners Mark and Nektary as readers, presented church utensils to the parish, and talked with the faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church.
On August 18, Metropolitan Sergy met with the Mayor of Sorong, Mr. Lambert Jitmau, and with the head of the Regional People’s Representative Council, Mr. Abel Jadanfle.
On August 19, the feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ, Metropolitan Sergy celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the parish of Ss Constantine and Helena Equal-to-the-Apostles in Manokwari, the capital of the Indonesian Province of West Papua.
On the eve of the feast, Metropolitan Sergy celebrated the All-Night Vigil and presented the parish with church utensils.
Concelebrating with His Eminence at the Liturgy were Rev. Gregory Muzendi of the church of St. Athanasius the Great in Jayapura, and Rev. Vladimir Vorumi of the church of St. Nicholas in Jayapura.
The Patriarchal Exarch ordained a parishioner Matthias as a reader and after the Liturgy blessed the fruits of the new harvest.
Metropolitan Sergy addressed his archpastoral word to the worshippers and congratulated them on the feast.
