Hierarchs from six Local Churches celebrate the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord at the Cathedral of the Dormition in Budapest

On August 19, the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, a conciliar divine service took place at the Cathedral of the Holy Dormition in Budapest. It was celebrated by hierarchs from six Local Church, who came together in the Hungarian capital on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the service of Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary in Holy Orders.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Timotheos of Bostra, Patriarchate of Jerusalem. His concelebrants included Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary; Archbishop Tikhon of Ruza, administrator of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Diocese of Berlin and Germany; Bishops Lucian of Budima and Irenaeus of Bac, Serbian Orthodox Church; Bishop Siluan of Gyula, Romanian Orthodox Church; Bishop Gerasim of Melnik, chief secretary of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church; Archbishop Michael of Prague and the Czech Lands and Archbishop George of Michalovce-Kosice, Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia.
Taking part in the service were also seven priests and five deacons from Hungary, Germany and Serbia.
The liturgical singing was performed by the choir of the Cathedral of the Dormition conducted by Precentor Eva Gvolik.
After the Prayer of Ardent Supplication, Metropolitan Hilarion read a prayer for the restoration of peace and, in the end of the Divine Liturgy, blessed the fruits.
Following the Dismissal, Metropolitan Timotheos greeted the concelebrants, clergy and parishioners on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord and then addressed himself to Metropolitan Hilarion pointing to his exceptional contribution to the fostering and propagating the Orthodox faith. Metropolitan Timotheos conveyed to the hero of the anniversary a congratulation and best wishes from His Beatitude Theophilos, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine.
Then congratulation to Metropolitan Hilarion were extended by Archbishop Tikhon of Ruza who spoke on behalf of the faithful of the Russian Orthodox Diocese of Berlin-Germany.
Bishop Irenaeus of Bac conveyed congratulations from his Holiness Porfirije of Serbia, and Bishop Siluan of Gyula - from His Holiness Patriarch Daniel of Romania. Archbishop Michael of Prague and the Czech Lands congratulated Metropolitan Hilarion on behalf of His Beatitude Rostislav, Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia and presented him with the Order of Holy Martyr Gorazd (Degree I).
In his response, Metropolitan Hilarion cordially thanked the archpastors for their warm words and best wishes noting that the history of the Cathedral of the Dormition had never seen before an occasion of nine hierarchs from six Local Orthodox Churches celebrating the liturgy together.
After the kissing of the cross, the archpastors took a common photo for memory.
The liturgy, celebrated in Church Slavonic, Hungarian and Romanian, was broadcast live on the video-channel of the Orthodox Jesus-portal.
