Metropolitan Hilarion expressed condolences upon the death of composer Mikis Theodorakis
The message reads:
Having heard with regret about the death of outstanding composer of the present time Mikis Theodorakis, I extend to you my deep condolences.
It is impossible to imagine the Greek culture without Theodorakis’s music. His achievements in musical art were marked many times by international and national awards, including the Apostle. Andrew the First-Called Russian international award.
Especially memorable for me is our joint concert in the Herodeion Athenian amphitheater in 2012 when I had an opportunity to make the acquaintance of the composer and to appreciate the profundity and scale of his personality.
I prayerfully wish you physical and spiritual strength to withstand the bitterness of the loss. May the Merciful Lord give rest to the soul of the recently departed in His heavenly mansions.
With condolences,
Hilarion
