Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God celebrated in Holy Land

In the evening of August 27, 2021, on the eve of the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, the All-Night Vigil was celebrated by Archimandrite Alexander (Elisov), head of the Mission, the REM staff members in holy orders in the Trinity Cathedral of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem. During the Polyeleos, the cathedral clergy brought out to the middle of the church the Shroud of the Most Holy Mother of God adorned with flowers.

On August 28, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the Tomb of the Mother of God in Gethsemane. He was assisted by hierarchs of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem - Metropolitan Isykhios of Capitolias, Archbishop Demetrios of Lydda, Archbishop Makarios of Qatar and Metropolitan Joachim of Helenopolis, as well as Hieromonk Dometian (Markarian), member of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, and the clergy of the Holy Sepulcher.

On the same day, head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission Archimandrite Alexander, assisted by Hegumen Nikon (Golovko), secretary of the Mission, and Hieromonk Ambrose (Ignatov), acting warden of the Metochion of the Holy Forefathers in Hebron, celebrated the Liturgy during which about one hundred parishioners partook of the Holy Mysteries of Christ. After the service, the clergy of the Mission sang praise to the feast in the center of the church.
