Celebrations in Ash Shariqah to mark the 10th anniversary of consecration of the first Russian church to appear in Arabian Peninsula
On August 13, 2021, the festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the St. Philipp church in Ash Shariqah, United Arab Emirates, to mark the 10th anniversary of its consecration.
The liturgy was celebrated by Archimandrite Alexander Zerkashev, rector of the church, who was assisted by Archpriest Antony Dolinin, rector of the church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Baku, and Rev. Constantine Orlov, a cleric of the St. Philip church in Ash Shariqah.
The liturgical hymns were sung by the parish choir conducted by Ms. Marina Nagornaya.
During the Prayer of Fervent Supplication, petitions were voiced for deliverance from the coronavirus infection followed by the prayer traditionally read during the spread of a pernicious infection.
After the Liturgy, a thanksgiving was celebrated. Archpriest Antony Dolinin acclaimed ‘Many Years of Life’ to the rector, warden and all the parishioners.
With a blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the rector of the church presented Yu. G. Sidorenko, warden of the church, with the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov (Degree III) in acknowledgement of his help to the St. Philip church and on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
Archimandrite Alexander also presented his concelebrants, church workers and active parishioners with tokens and books about the church.
