DECR chairman meets with Kirche in Not representative

On 8^th July 2021, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, met with Pyotr V. Gumenyuk, head of the Russian section of the International Catholic Charity Foundation Kirche in Not (Aid to the Church in Need.). Taking part in the meeting was Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations.

Discussed were issues pertaining to bilateral cooperation of the Russian Orthodox Church with Kirche in Not and to the work of the Joint Working Group of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church set up after the meeting of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Holiness Pope Francis in Havana in 2016 to deal with projects of assistance to the suffering people in Syria, common initiatives in the strengthening of family values in society, aid to women in crisis situations, and church centers for the rehabilitation of drug addicts.
