Orthodox church damaged by earthquake is restored in the Philippines
A series of destructive earthquakes on Mindanao Island in late 2019 led to a human toll, many locals were injured and deprived of the roof over their heads. Orthodox churches near the epicenter were damaged too, among them the church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the Makalangot village. After its framework was reinforced, the restoration work was ultimately completed and the church was blessed.
The church of the Holy Queen Helena in the Little Bagio village withstood but was considerably damaged: there were through cracks in support pillars and walls while the concrete cross crowning the church broke down. With the help of benefactors from Russia and other countries it was possible to carry out the works to remove damages and to reinforce the church framework with the help of external armoring.
