The Name Day of the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America was celebrated in Washington. His Beatitude Archbishop Jonah of Washington and Metropolitan of All America and Canada and the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes of the USA, Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Washington. Attending the divine service were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the USA Sergei Kislyak and cultural attaché of the RF Embassy Vyacheslav Moshkalo.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Johan and Ambassador Kislyak expressed their confidence in the development and strengthening of warm cordial relations between the Orthodox Churches of America and Russian for the good of the people of both countries.
Many people attended the festive Divine Liturgy, also because of the forthcoming commemoration day of St. Jonah of Moscow, the Heavenly Patron of the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America. "Many Years" was proclaimed to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and to other Orthodox archpastors. After the Liturgy, the hierarchs exchanged gifts. Archbishop Justinian presented Metropolitan Jonah with an icon of the Holy Trinity, while the Primate of the OCA presented Archbishop Justinian with an icon of the Holy and Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon dated the 19th century.
