Russian State Archives and Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary in Jordanville exchange documents

On September 17, 2010, Russia’s State Archives and Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville exchanged copies of documents in Moscow in one of the events marking the 90^th anniversary of the State Archives of the Russian Federation (SARF).

The opening ceremony of the anniversary was attended by prominent statesmen and scholars, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church and guests from the near-abroad countries.

Messages of greetings were brought from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

SARF Director S. Mironenko and Holy Trinity Seminary Dean Archpriest Vladimir Tsurikov exchanged copies of some documents, among them those of the Synod of the Russian Church Abroad for the period from 1921 to 1945 and the seminary’s funds of V. K. Abdank-Kossovsky (1885-1962), P.N. Krasnov (1869-1947) and S.V. Denisov.

The anniversary events included the opening of an exhibition of archival materials on the 19^th-20^th century Russian history. Among the exhibits are ‘Prophesies of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the secret police papers, ‘Conspiracy of Grand Princes: 1916’ and ‘The Will of Patriarch Tikhon’.
