His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent a message to Mr. Mohd. Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, in which he expressed his condolences over a Malaysian airliner crash in the airspace over eastern Ukraine. The text of the message is given below.
Dear Mr. Mohd. Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak,
With pain in my heart I have learned about a terrible and sudden tragedy – a Malaysian airliner crash in the airspace over eastern Ukraine. The plane was en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam. As the result of the tragedy, two hundred ninety-eight people, including many children, have died. The catastrophe has shaken the whole world and caused great sorrow for the people of Malaysia, the Netherlands, and many other countries.
I express my deep condolences over the tragedy and ask you to convey my words of sincere sympathy and support to those who have lost their relatives and friends in the plane crash. I hope that an unbiased and full-scale investigation into the tragedy will be conducted with the participation of the international community.
May the All-Merciful Lord console all those affected by this terrible calamity.
With deep condolences,
+Kirill,
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia
