Metropolitan Hilarion meets with Patriarch Irenaeus of Serbia and members of the Serbian Church’s Holy Synod
With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relation, was on a working trip to Serbia on August 25-26, 2014.
The DECR chairman was met at the Belgrade airport by Bishop Jovan of Lipljan, vicar of the Patriarchate of Serbia, Archpriest Vitalij Tarasjev, representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the See of the Patriarch of Serbia, and Mr. I. Gorbunov, minister-counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Serbia.
On August 25, Metropolitan Hilarion met with His Holiness Patriarch Irenaeus of Serbia. They discussed the relations between the Russian and Serbian Orthodox Churches, the program of Patriarch Kirill’s visit to Serbia, problems involved in inter-Orthodox and inter-Christian cooperation and some other matters of mutual concern.
On the same day, Metropolitan Hilarion visited the Russian Embassy to meet with Mr. I. Gorbunov.
During his trip, Metropolitan Hilarion was accompanied by Hieromonk Stephan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations, and A. Yershov, aide to the DECR chairman.
