His Holiness Patriarch Kirill visits exhibition ‘Russia and Serbia. History of Spiritual Relations’
On 15 November 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia visited in Belgrade an exhibition ‘Russia and Serbia. History of Spiritual Relations in the 14th-19th Centuries.’
The exhibition, which takes place at the former country palace of Prince Miloš Obrenović, has been organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Federal Archives Agency of the Russian Federation, and the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, with the assistance of the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Archive of Old Documents, the State Historical Museum (Moscow), and the Historical Museum of Serbia.
The exposition includes numerous materials that show spiritual ties binding the two countries: official documents, charters, decrees, manuscripts, letters, diaries, paintings, and photographs. Among the items first put on display are some photographs of the Serbian princes and the Serbian Red Cross Diploma conferred on Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna for her help to wounded and ill soldiers.
The Primate of the Russian Church valued highly the documents and exhibits on display and thanked those who had organized the exhibition showing unbreakable centuries-old ties binding Russia and Serbia.
