Patriarch Kirill will make a pastoral visit to Great Britain
His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, will make a pastoral visit to the Diocese of Sourozh from October 15 to 18, 2016. The visit will be devoted to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Church’s presence in the British Islands. The history of the Russian parish in London and the Diocese of Sourozh begins with the embassy church founded by the order of Peter I in 1716.
The Patriarchal liturgy at the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in London will become the key event of the visit.
During the visit, there will be events devoted to Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom) of eternal memory, who made a considerable contribution to the development of the Russian community in Great Britain in the mid-20th century and exerted much effort to develop the Diocese of Sourozh founded in 1962.
During the trip, there will also be a number of church-public events.
