Days of Russian Spiritual Culture launched in France
October 5, 2017 – The Days of Russian Spiritual Culture in France were launched in a solemn ceremony in Paris. They are held with the support the Russian Ministry of Culture, Russian embassy in France and the Russian Orthodox diocese of Chersonese.
The ceremony was attended by Russian deputy minister of culture Ms. A. Manilova, Russian ambassador to France A. Orlov, Bishop Nestor of Korsun, clergy of the Trinity Cathedral, representatives of the French public and mass media.
After the speeches of greetings from Ms. Manilova and Mr. Orlov, Russian young musical prodigies led by artistic director Oleg Weinstein, laureate of international contests, gave a gala concert of classical music. They played compositions by Prokofyev, Rachmaninov, Vivaldi, List, Rossini, and others.
On the same day, an exhibition of children’s drawings ‘The Soul of Russia’ was opened at the foyer of the administrative building of the Spiritual-Cultural Center on Quai Branly.
Among those who will perform at the center in Paris during the two-month Days of Russian Spiritual Culture in France are the Moscow Synodal Choir, young opera singers from the Mariinsky Theatre’s Academy led by Larisa Gergieva, the St. Petersburg House of Music with a concern of classical music ‘An Embassy of Mastery’, and the St. Petersburg Demmeni Puppet Theatre. There will be a week of spiritual films, a Russian-French conference on Christian Identity of Europe, and a round-table conference on the Role of Russia Emigres in Preserving Spiritual Ties between Russia and France in the 20th-21st Centuries, the Russian Orthodox diocese of Korsun website reports.

The Days of Russia with spiritual events is a large-scale cultural and educational project organized by the Russian Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in close cooperation with the Russian Orthodox Church.
In December, immediately the Days of Russian Spiritual Culture in France are closed, the Russian Ministry of Culture will hold a number of events in France as part of the official closing of the Russia-France Cross Year 2016-2017.
