His Holiness Patriarch Kirill visited the Romanian Orthodox Church
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia paid an official visit to the Romanian Orthodox Church at the invitation of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania on October 26-28, 2017. The visit was timed to the Year of Commemoration of the defenders of Orthodoxy under the theomachist regime in Romania and to the 10th anniversary of the enthronement of Patriarch Daniel.
At his request a shrine with a particle of the relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov was brought to Romania as a gift to the Romanian Orthodox Church. The Primates of the Russian and Romanian Orthodox Churches presided over the ceremony of bringing the shrine to the spiritual centre of the Romanian Patriarchate.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel held talks at the Patriarchal Palace.
On October 27 the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church participated in the ceremonial divine service in the open air at Patriarchal Hill in Bucharest. The service was dedicated to the commemoration day of St. Demetrius of Basarbov, a heavenly patron of Bucharest, to the memory of the martyrs and confessors who suffered under the theomachist regime in Romania, and to the 10th anniversary of the enthronement of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania.
In the evening of October 27, His Holiness attended a concert of the Church Music National Festival-Competition ‘Praise the Lord’ held in the Patriarchal Palace in Bucharest.
In the morning of October 28, His Holiness attended the thanksgiving prayer service for the 10th anniversary of the enthronement of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania celebrated at the Patriarchal Cathedral of Ss Constantine and Helen.
On the last day of his visit His Holiness Patriarch Kirill took part in the grand meeting of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
