Condolences sent by the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church to Coptic Patriarch Tawadros II over the attack of militants on a Coptic church in Cairo
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has extended condolences to Patriarch of the Coptic Church Tawadros II over the attack on the church of St. Mina in a Cairo’s suburb committed on December 29.
His Holiness TAWADROS II
Pope of Alexandria and
Patriarch of the See of St. Mark in All Africa and the Middle East
Your Holiness,
With profound grief I have learnt about the armed attack carried out on the Coptic Church of St. Mina in Cairo. Again, for the umpteenth time, the innocent blood of Egyptian Christians has been spilt.
This cynical evil action committed in the pre-Christmas time demands from the whole world community resolute condemnation and urgent reinforcement of its cooperation in opposing terrorism. The chaos and violence should be stopped for the sake of the triumph of truth and peaceful life of the coming generations.
In this grievous hour, I profoundly empathize with Your Holiness and all the faithful of the Coptic Church and the relatives and loved ones of the victims and the injured. Kindly convey them the words of consolation from the Lord and wishes of courage in their bereavement, for none of them that trust in him shall be desolate (Ps. 33:23).
With love in Christ and sincere condolences,
+ Kirill
