Metropolitan Hilarion chairs a meeting of the Inter-Council Presence’s commission on theology and theological education

On June 1, 2018, the Inter-Council Presence’s commission on theology and theological education met at the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies (CMI). The meeting was chaired the chairman of the commission, head of the Department for External Church Relations (DECR), chairman of the synodal biblical and theological commission and the CMI rector, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.

Opening the meeting, His Eminence announced the agenda. After that, reports were made on the progress of the work on various documents.

The draft document on The Church’s Attitude to Genetic Diagnostics and Genetic Therapy was presented by Archpriest Oleg Mumrikov.

The draft document on ‘The Teaching of the Church on the Miracle” was presented by A. Shishkov.

As a result of the discussion, it was agreed to send these draft documents to the secretariat of the Inter-Council Presence for further work.

In conclusion of the meeting, Archbishop Ambrose of Petergof, rector of St. Petersburg Theological Academy, made a report on the results of the academic-theological conference ‘On a Theological Reflection of the Phenomenon of Extremism and Terrorism’ held on May 12, 2018, at St. Petersburg Theological Academy.
