Pascha celebrated in China
The Radiant Feast of the Resurrection of Christ was celebrated in China.
The Paschal divine services were celebrated at the Church of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God in Harbin by a cleric of the Chinese Autonomous Orthodox Church, Rev. Alexander Yu Shi, and at the Church of St. Innocent in Ergun, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, by. Rev. Paul Xun Min.
Celebrating the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Dormition in the territory of Russia’s Embassy in Beijing was its rector Hieromonk Innokenty (Kolesnikov). The divine service brought together some 400 believers from Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Spain, France, Great Britain, the United States and other countries. Most of the worshippers partook of the Holy Communion. Among those present was H.E. Mr. Andrei Denisov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the People's Republic of China.
On the occasion of the Feast of Pascha the Shanghai city authorities provided the building of the Cathedral of the ‘Surety of the Sinful” Icon of the Mother of God for the celebration of the divine services. Rev. Ioann Schelokov, rector of the international Orthodox community of Shanghai, officiated at the Liturgy. Among those present was Mr. Alexei Yevsikov, Consul General of Russia in Shanghai. To build the cathedral, funds had been raised by the Russian emigrants. The construction was completed in 1937. Among those serving in the church was St. John of Shanghai. In May 2013 His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, during his historic visit to China, officiated at the Paschal divine service in the cathedral.
The night Easter Liturgy was also celebrated at the premises of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Shanghai.
Officiating at the divine services in the Parish of Ss. Peter and Paul in Hong Kong was its rector Archpriest Dionisy Pozdnyaev. The Orthodox faithful also gathered together to celebrate Easter in other cities of China.
