Hierarchs of the Moscow Patriarchate take part in the consecration of Russian church in Cyprus
On 1 May 2017, in the city of Episkopion (Archdiocese of Tamasos of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus), the rite of consecration of the Russian Church of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called and All the Saints Who Shone Forth in the Russian Land was performed.
Among those who took part in the celebrations were Metropolitan Antony of Borispol and Brovary, and Archbishop Yevgeny of Vereya, rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, as well as hierarchs and clergy of the Church of Cyprus and archpastors of the Churches of Alexandria, Jerusalem, Greece, and of the Czech Lands and Slovakia.
On May 2, His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of New Justiniana and All Cyprus received Metropolitan Antony of Borispol and Brovary and Archbishop Yevgeny of Vereya in the premises of the Archbishopric of Cyprus in Nicosia.
As the official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church informs, after the celebrations Metropolitan Isaias of Tamasos and Oreini (Orthodox Church of Cyprus) “gave his blessing… to say a prayer for peace in Ukraine in all churches of his diocese.”

The Church of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called and All the Saints Who Shone Forth in the Russian Land was built on the initiative of Metropolitan Isaias of Tamasos and Oreini for the Russian-speaking community. The construction was sponsored by a benefactor from Russia. Among those who took part in the opening of the church on March 27, 2017, was Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations.
