His Holiness Patriarch Kirill blesses monument to Patriarch Hermogen
25 May 2013 marked the centenary of canonization of the holy martyr Hermogen, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Assumption in the Moscow Kremlin.
Taking part in a solemn ceremony of unveiling the monument held in Alexandrovsky Sad by the Kremlin wall were His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. They were met by Sergei Ivanov, chief of Presidential Administration of Russia, and Vladimir Kozhin, presidential chancellor. The four of them came up to the monument, took the ropes and unveiled the monument.
The Primate of the Russian Church performed the blessing of the monument. Prayers were offered for all those who had worked for the erection of the monument to the holy martyr Hermogen, Patriarch of All Russia, who had laid down his life for the faith and the Fatherland. Singing at the divine service was the choir of Sr. Daniel’s Monastery.
The Office of Blessing being over, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill addressed a meeting with his primatial homily.
Sergei Ivanov read out the message of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and congratulated all those present with the unveiling of the monument.
