Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church takes part in a meeting of the World Council of Churches Commission on Ecumenical Education and Formation

On 4^th – 9^th October 2026, the Commission on Ecumenical Education and Formation of the World Council of Churches met at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, Switzerland. Among those who took part in the meeting was Priest Anthony Borisov, Professor of the Church History Department of the Moscow Theological Academy, Associate Professor of the Department of Church History and Ecclesiastical Law of the Saints Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Postgraduate Studies.

In the course of plenary sessions and thematic discussions, Father Anthony presented the Orthodox perspective on the nature of theological education. As he pointed out during the meeting, it is necessary to adhere to the ancient church tradition and try to avoid the temptation to replace traditional Biblical terminology with secular notions of questionable meaning.

Rev. Anthony Borisov also attended the celebrations that marked the 80^th anniversary of the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey and conveyed to its Academic Dean, Rev. Fr. Dr Lawrence Iwuamadi, a message of greetings from Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate. Among the students of the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey were, and are, representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches.
