DECR Communication Service, 05/10/2026
On October 4, 2026, Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America led patronal celebrations at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian in the town of Campina das Missões, Federative Republic of Brazil. The date of the celebration had been rescheduled from October 9 to October 4.
Concelebrating the Divine Liturgy with the archpastor was Archpriest Oleg Mokryak, Rector of St. John the Theologian Church and Secretary of the Argentina Diocese.
Among those who attended the divine service were Mr Feodosy Vladishevsky, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Rio de Janeiro; Mr Carlos Justen, Mayor of Campina das Missões; Mr Jacinto Anatólio Zabolostky, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Rio Grande do Sul, with his spouse; as well as parishioners and guests, Telegram channel of the Diocese of Argentina reports.
After the Litany of Fervent Supplication, Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America read the Prayer for the Holy Rus’.
After the Dismissal, prayers of praise were offered to the Holy Apostle John the Theologian and the Cross of the Lord. Bishop Leonid delivered a homily, in which he emphasised that striving for education, good job and material well-being should not be the most important thing in life, overshadowing concern for a person’s soul, for what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mk 8:36). Bishop Leonid pointed out the importance of love for one’s neighbour and good deeds, as St. John the Theologian teaches the faithful.
The archpastor also greeted the officials who attended the divine service and thanked all those present for the joint prayer.
The Liturgy was followed by a festive repast, during which the guests enjoyed performances by the Children and Youth Dance Group “Troyka” and local musicians who performed musical compositions and songs in the Russian and Portuguese languages.
