Russian Orthodox Church holds first humanitarian initiative in Niger

In September 2026, with the blessing of Metropolitan Constantine of Cairo and North Africa, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Priest Parthenius Dansu, Dean of the West African Ecclesiastical District, visited the Republic of Niger.

At the Russian House in Niamey, the capital of Niger, the priest celebrated the Divine Liturgy, attended by Russian compatriots.

Father Parthenius also met with local Christians who had expressed a desire to join the Orthodox Church, reports the website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.

In addition, the Russian Orthodox Church held its first humanitarian initiative in Niger. Food supplies were distributed to widows who had recently lost their husbands. The women expressed their gratitude to the Russian Orthodox Church for its support during this difficult period.
