Feast Day celebrated at the Saidnaya Monastery in Syria

On September 8, the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos according to the Revised Julian calendar, the Patriarchal Convent of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Saidnaya, Syria, celebrated its patronal feast.

At the invitation of the abbess of the Saidnaya Monastery, Abbess Fevronia (Nabhan), Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), Representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' to the Patriarchal See of Antioch, took part in Matins and the Divine Liturgy at the monastery's cathedral church.

On the feast day, with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Great Antioch and All the East, the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos was presided over by Bishop Roman of Seleucia, Chief Secretary of the Synod of the Church of Antioch, and Bishop Moses of Darayya, concelebrated by Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), Archimandrite Basil (Moussa), a monk of the Monastery of St George in Al-Humayrah, and the monastery clergy. Abbess Fevronia (Nabhan) also prayed during the service, the website of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Damascus reports.

The service was celebrated in Arabic and Church Slavonic.

Following the communion verse (Koinonikon), Bishop Moses of Darayya delivered a sermon on the feast.

After the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Roman warmly greeted Bishop Moses, Archimandrite Philip and the concelebrating clergy, as well as the sisters of the monastery and the numerous parishioners, conveying to them the blessing of the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch.
