DECR Secretary for Inter-Christian Affairs meets with Sudanese Ambassador to Russia

On September 1, 2026, as part of efforts to develop working contacts between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Republic of Sudan, Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), Secretary for Inter-Christian Affairs of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, met with H.E. Mr Mohammed Elghazali Eltijani Sirraj, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to the Russian Federation.
The meeting, held at the Embassy of Sudan in Moscow, addressed the development of cooperation between the religious communities of the two countries, as well as other issues on the bilateral agenda following Hieromonk Stefan’s visit to the Republic of Sudan on April 17–21, 2026.
Also attending the meeting were Mohammed Adam Elrashid Ali, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Sudan in Moscow, and Jafar Ibrahim Albashir Yusif, Counsellor of the Embassy.
