Patriarchal Exarch of Africa performs Sacrament of Baptism in the waters of Lake Victoria

On 27^th July 2026, in the town of Musoma, Tanzania, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, performed the Sacrament of Baptism in the waters of Lake Victoria.

Eleven people were baptized that day. Twelve more were received into Orthodoxy through the Sacrament of Chrismation, website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa reports.

Assisting the archpastor was Archimandrite Zacharias (Mulingwa), Dean of Tanzania’s Central Deanery. Priest George Maximov, Chairman of the Exarchate’s Missionary Department, delivered an exhortation to the newly baptized.

Later that day, Metropolitan Konstantin visited the Parish of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrios of Thessaloniki in Musoma. Serving as its rector is Priest Polycarp Buchenja. During his visit, His Eminence delivered a homily, presented the parish with an altar cross and talked with the faithful.

The hierarch also visited the Holy Annunciation Parish in the city of Mwanza shepherded by Father Polycarp. Metropolitan Konstantin talked with the community members and presented a cross as a gift for the parish.
