A DECR Representative Participates in the Family Festival “Sabantuy of Friendship and Unity”

On 27 June in Moscow, on the territory of the future Interreligious Spiritual, Cultural, and Educational Center in the settlement of Sosenskoye (Kommunarka), the annual Tatar-Bashkir national festival “Sabantuy of Friendship and Unity” was held.
The organizers of the event included the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia (DSMR); the Central Religious Organization and Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Moscow and the Central Region “Moscow Muftiate”; the Government of Moscow; and the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science, and Education, with the support of the governments of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan.
Participants included: DSMR Chairman Mufti Albir Krganov; Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan Mufti Kamil Samigullin; Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Kemerovo Region Mufti Tagir Bikchantayev; Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Chuvash Republic Mufti Ilyas Safiyanov; representative of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia in Moscow Did Khambo Lama Sodnomdordzhiev; Chief Adviser of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation A. M. Terentyev; Head of the Department for Cooperation with Religious Organizations of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation for Domestic Policy E. V. Eremen; Deputy Head of the same Department A. R. Fayzullin; Chairman of the Public Chamber Commission of the Russian Federation for Harmonization of Interethnic and Interreligious Relations and Migration V. Yu. Zorin, and others.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the DECR of the Moscow Patriarchate, Hieromonk Grigory (Matrusov) took part in the event. Father Grigory delivered a welcoming address, noting that Sabantuy, the “plough festival”, is a wonderful occasion to express gratitude to God for everything He sends us each day.
Well-known performers, creative groups, artists, and musicians representing the rich cultural heritage of Tatarstan, Bashkiria, and other regions of Russia performed on stage.
Throughout the day, traditional games and workshops for children and adults were held, as well as competitions in belt wrestling (köräş), and fairs of folk crafts. Guests were also able to sample Tatar and Bashkir cuisine.
Within the framework of Sabantuy, a presentation of the Interreligious Spiritual, Cultural, and Educational Center project was held, conducted by representatives of the Moscow Architectural Institute.
