Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul According to the New Calendar Prayerfully Celebrated in Damascus
On June 29, the feast of the Holy Chief Apostles Peter and Paul according to the New Calendar, and at the invitation of His Beatitude Patriarch John of Antioch and All the East, Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), representative of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' to the Patriarchal See of Antioch, took part in Matins and the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Damascus.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Beatitude Patriarch John, concelebrating with Metropolitan Ignatius of Gaul, Metropolitan Gregory of Homs, Metropolitan Anthony of Hauran; Bishop Roman of Seleucia, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Antioch; Bishops John of Sergiopolis and Arseny of Hierapolis; Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev); Archimandrite Gerasimos (Kabbas), abbot of the Monastery of the Holy Great Martyr George in Al-Humayrah; Archimandrite Parthenios (Al-Lati); and clergy of Damascus.
The services were celebrated in Arabic, Church Slavonic, Greek, and French.
Following the clergy communion, Archimandrite Philip congratulated His Beatitude Patriarch John on the feast of the Holy Chief Apostles Peter and Paul and presented him with commemorative gifts, according to the website of the Representation of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' to the Patriarch of Great Antioch and All the East.
