Dvořák’s oratorio Saint Ludmila premiered at Slovak Institute in Moscow

On 20th January 2026, an important event took place at the Slovak Institute under the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in the Russian Federation – selected compositions from the oratorio Saint Ludmila by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák were performed in Russia for the first time.
The event was organized by the Representation of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Institute and the Palette of the Universe Foundation. The originator of the project is Anastasia Vediakova, member of Russia’s National Union of Composers, laureate of various international competitions and Grammy nominee.
Among those who attended the oratorio’s premiere were: Mr Daniel Koštoval, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Russian Federation, with his spouse; Mr Peter Priputen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Russian Federation; Archimandrite Seraphim (Shemyatovsky), Representative of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’; Archpriest Nikolai Lishchenyuk, Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church to the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia; and other guests.
At the conclusion of the concert programme, the soloists and members of the chamber orchestra received a long and enthusiastic ovation from the audience.
