Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch participates in service at the Stauropegic Convent of the Protecting Veil of Our Lady in Moscow.

On 22nd November 2025 at the Stauropegic Convent of the Protecting Veil of Our Lady in Moscow, the birthday and name’s day of the Blessed Matron of Moscow was celebrated. With the blessing of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill the festivities were headed by the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Convents the vicar abbot of the Saint Dmitry of the Don monastery the metropolitan of Kashira Theognostus. Concelebrating with him was a hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch the bishop of Safita Dimitrios.
Upon arrival at the convent, the archpastors venerated the relics of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow that are located in the Church of the Protecting Veil.
At the Divine Liturgy in the convent Church of the Resurrection concelebrating with the bishops were the secretary to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ protopresbyter Vladimir Divakov, the dean of the Pokrov ecclesiastical district of Moscow archpriest Oleg Yegorov, deputy chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Convents and the deputy abbot of the Stauropegic Monastery of Saint Sabbas of Storozha archimandrite Stephan (Tarakanov) and clergy of the Convent of the Protecting Veil.
Praying at the service were the mother superior of the convent abbess Theophania (Miskina) with the convent sisters as well as children from the children’s home under the convent’s care, parishioners and pilgrims.
To facilitate the participation of the faithful in the service, it was broadcast live on large screens erected on the convent square, reports the website of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Convents.
At the Litany of Fervent Supplication special petitions were offered and metropolitan Theognostus read the prayer for Holy Russia.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy there was a procession of the cross and short service of glorification at the relics of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow.
Then abbess Theophania warmly greeted the bishops and thanked them for the service they had just celebrated. In memory of his visit abbess Theophania presented bishop Dimitrios with an icon of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow, expressing the wish that through his prayers the Lord would console the suffering people of Syria.
Metropolitan Theognostus congratulated abbess Theophania, the convent inmates and parishioners on the occasion of patronal feast day.
A free festive meal of tea and products from the convent’s bakery had been organized for the pilgrims throughout the course of the day.
