On the initiative of the Moscow Patriarchate’s parish in Laos, local schools teaching Russian language receive educational equipment
DECR Communication Service, 19/11/2025
On 17th November 2025, a ceremony took place at the Russian House in Vientiane, capital of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, during which educational equipment was presented to the local schools teaching the Russian language.
The charity event was initiated by the parish of St. Alexander Nevsky Church in Vientiane. With the blessing of Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and South-East Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of South-East Asia, acting administrator of the Diocese of Thailand, the parish had collected all the necessary equipment for six schools located in the capital of Laos.
As the Patriarchal Exarchate of South-East Asia reports in its Telegram channel, the schools received projectors, motorized projection screens, printers, globes, sports equipment and stationary.
Similar kits are due to be delivered to three more schools in the city of Luang Prabang. Thus, all nine educational institutions in Laos that teach Russian as a foreign language will have all the necessary equipment.
Among those who took part in the ceremony at the Russian House in Vientiane were Mr V.A. Kalinin, Russia’s Ambassador to Laos, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos, and the school principles. The event was organized by the representative of the Rossotrudnichestvo Federal Agency in Laos, Mr A.V. Radkov.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening Russia-Laos ties and promoting educational relations between the two countries. “We want the Laotian children who are studying the Russian language to form the best impression of our country,” noted the organizers.
