DECR Chairman sends greetings to the participants in the Russia Abroad International Film Festival
DECR Communication Service, 10.11.2025.
On November 7, the 18th Russia Abroad International Film Festival opened at the Alexander Solzhenitsyn Russia Abroad House in Moscow.
The organizers and participants received greetings from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergei Lavrov, as well as from prominent state and public figures.
Warm greetings and best wishes to the festival’s management and guests were sent by Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations. The message was read out at the opening ceremony by hieromonk Kirill (Peregudin), a DECR staff member.
Metropolitan Anthony emphasized, “Particular importance is attached to the film festival by memorable dates. This year marks the 160th anniversary of the birth and the 100th anniversary of the demise of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia, who during the hard times was a symbol of unity and a stronghold of canonical Orthodoxy in Russia. Also, we celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War that unites several generations of the descendants of the winners.”
This year, the festival programme features more than fifty fiction and documentary films from ten countries: Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, Canada, Russia, Serbia, Uzbekistan, and France.
