DECR representative attends the 1st All-Russian International Interreligious Forum in Volzhsky

On October 20-21, the city of Volzhsky, Volgograd region, hosted the 1st All-Russian International Interreligious Forum (VolgaForum) titled "Islam as a Factor of Stability and Defense of the Motherland." The event was organized by the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia and the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Volgograd region with the aid of the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science, and Education, the Administration of the Volgograd region, and the city of Volzhsky.
Attending a plenary session on October 20 were Mufti Albir Krganov, chair of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia; Mufti Bata Kifah Mohammad, chair of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Volgograd region; Mufti Eldar Gambarov, chair of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Lugansk People's Republic; Mr. Mikhail A. Gryaznov, director of the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science, and Education; Mr. R.A. Silantyev, head of the Moscow State Linguistic University’s Destructology Laboratory; Sheikh Dr. Rashid Ibrahim Al-Mutaikhi, chief justice of the Supreme Sunni Sharia Court and member of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain; Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuka Johnson, chairman of the Nigeria-Russia trade and investment advisory council; Mr. Saber Akhbari Jeddi, responsible for interaction with European and American сountries, the Islamic Republic of Iran; theologian Ayatollah Sadeq al-Musavifar from Beirut, Lebanon, and many others.
Attending the opening of the forum with the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, was hieromonk Grigory (Matrusov). In his address at the plenary session, he underscored that peace is an essential condition for stability. As Christianity and Islam are striving to achieve external and inner peace, their interaction is a sine qua non for stability in Russia and defense against any foe.
On October 21, the Prophet Muhammad Spiritual and Cultural Center was opened at the Volzhsky Mosque, and a scientific and practical conference on "Islam and Good Morality: Spiritual Shield of the Fatherland" took place.
