A Hierarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church participated in the celebration of the Feast of the Prophet Elijah in Moscow

On August 2, the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah, located on Ilyinka Street at the former Novgorod Metochion, one of Moscow’s oldest churches, celebrated its patronal feast day.
The Divine Liturgy within the church walls was concelebrated by Bishop Jovan of Pakrac and Slavonia, a hierarch of the Serbian Patriarchate currently visiting the Russian capital with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, and Bishop Seraphim of Istra, vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow.
Among the concelebrants were: Archpriest Andrey Rechitsky, dean of the Iveron district of the Moscow diocese and rector of the Church of the Prophet Elijah at the Novgorod Metochion; Archpriest Vyacheslav Shestakov, rector of the Patriarchal Metochion churches in Zaryadye, Moscow; Archpriest Kirill Sladkov, rector of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Pokrovskoye; Archpriest Alexander Ilyashenko, head of the Department for Youth Affairs of the Moscow city diocese and rector of the Church of the All-Merciful Savior at the former Sorrowful Convent in Moscow.
Attending the service as honored guests were: Major General S.V. Chubarykin, acting commander of the Russian Airborne Forces; V.V. Chubarov, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Major General V.A. Danilchenkov, chairman of the presidium of the All-Russian Public Organization "Council of Airborne Forces Veterans of Russia."
Following the Divine Liturgy, veterans and servicemen of the Airborne Forces, whose heavenly patron is the Holy Prophet Elijah, participated in the procession of the cross to Red Square. There, near the Lobnoye Mesto, Bishop Seraphim of Istra offered a prayer service in honor of the revered servant of God.
