Metropolitan Nestor of Korsun and Western Europe attends Pope Leo XIV’s meeting with representatives of Christian Churches and other world religions

On 19th May 2025, in the Clementine Hall of the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace, Pope Leo XIV met with representatives of Christian Churches, ecclesial communities and other religions who had arrived in the Vatican to attend the inaugural Mass marking the beginning of his pontificate.
With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, taking part in the meeting on behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church was Metropolitan Nestor of Korsun and Western Europe, Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, website of the Korsun Diocese reports.
Pope Leo delivered an address, emphasising the importance of the witness of the interfaith fraternity which is able to “contribute to building a more peaceful world, something that all men and women of good will desire in their hearts.” The participants in the meeting greeted the newly elected Head of the Roman Catholic Church, wishing him many years of successful pontificate.
During their conversation, Metropolitan Nestor conveyed to Pope Leo XIV congratulations on his election to the See of Rome from the Primate of the Russian Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, and expressed his own good wishes and hope that the new pontiff’s ministry will be the ministry of peace and dialogue.
