His Holiness Patriarch Kirill sends condolences over devastating earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand

On 28th March 2025, the 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar, with strong tremors felt in five neighbouring countries, including Thailand. In Myanmar, over 140 people died, over 700 were injured. A state of emergency was declared in Bangkok. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' sent his condolences to the Prime Minister of Myanmar and the King of Thailand. The text of the letters is given below.

Your Excellency,
Dear Mr Prime Minister,
It was with sorrow that I learned of the earthquake which had hit Myanmar. The natural disaster resulted in the death and suffering of great many people, and inflicted damage on the country’s infrastructure.
Offering my heartfelt commiseration to you and all the people of the Republic, I pray that those affected by the tragedy may find fortitude and strength.
