DECR Representative participates in roundtable on "Traditional and Non-Traditional Islam in the Modern World"

On March 12, Murmansk Arctic University hosted a roundtable discussion titled "Traditional and Non-Traditional Islam in the Modern World."
Participants included: Hieromonk Gregory (Matrusov), a representative of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR); Hegumen Michael (Kiselev), head of the Missionary Department of the Murmansk Diocese; Yulia Bardileva, Chair of the History Department and analyst at the university’s Coordination Center; University students.
The DECR representative addressed third- and fourth-year History students and faculty, providing an overview of Islam’s origins and core tenets. The discussion explored interfaith dialogue between Orthodox Christians and Muslims today, as well as challenges posed by extremist movements.
The event concluded with students and professors raising numerous questions about Orthodox teachings on the Holy Trinity and other aspects of Abrahamic faiths and practices.
Organized by the Murmansk Diocese’s Missionary Department and Murmansk Arctic University, the roundtable was part of the "Open Dialogue" initiative.
