Memorial service for late diplomats held at Moscow Church of “Joy of All Who Sorrow” Icon of the Mother of God in Bolshaya Ordynka Street

On 9th February 2025, at the request of the Veterans Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, a memorial service for late diplomatic workers was held in the Moscow Church of “Joy of All Who Sorrow” Icon of the Mother of God in Bolshaya Ordynka Street.
Officiating at the service was church rector Archpriest Nikolai Lishchenyuk, deputy chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate. Concelebrating with him was Priest Fyodor Shulga of the DECR Secretariat for Inter-Orthodox Relations. Prayers were offered for the renowned diplomats who had died in the past and for the recently deceased headquarters’ officials, ambassadors and embassies’ staff members. Some of them died in service.
Among those who attended the memorial service were incumbent and retired diplomats, including retired Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary V.V. Chamov, V.I. Kuzmin and O.V. Vasnetsov, and the former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Chad, Mr A.M. Chvykov. Mrs T.A. Karpova, widow of Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka M.G. Karpov, was also present.
