Hierarch of the Russian Church takes part in patronal feast of the Serbian convent in Buenos Aires

On 26^th January, at the invitation of Bishop Kirilo of Buenos Aires and South and Central America (Serbian Orthodox Church), Metropolitan Jacques of Buenos Aires and Argentina (Patriarchate of Antioch) and Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Convent of St Sava of Serbia in Buenos Aires, Argentina. That day, the convent celebrated its patronal feast.

Concelebrating with the archpastors were Archpriest Sergy Yudin, secretary of the Diocese of Argentina of the Russian Orthodox Church; Archpriest Stefan Jovanović, secretary of the Diocese of Argentina of the Serbian Orthodox Church; as well as the clergy from various dioceses of the Local Orthodox Churches.

Praying at the divine service was Mother Maria (Oliveira), abbess of St. Sava Convent in Buenos Aires. Among those in attendance were also local churches parishioners and guests.

The Liturgy was celebrated in the Church Slavonic, Serbian and Spanish languages, Telegram channel of the diocese reports.

After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Jacques of Buenos Aires and Argentina and Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America congratulated Mother Maria on the convent’s patronal feast, having wished her God’s help in her further monastic labours, and warmly greeted all those present, thanking them for the shared prayer.

A festive repast followed. Young students of St. Sava Sunday School read out the live of the saint. Archpriest Stefan Jovanović, secretary of the Diocese of Argentina of the Serbian Orthodox Church, read a poem by St Nicholas (Velimirović) about St. Sava’s prayerful intercession for the Serbian people.
