New parish opens in the Republic of Korea
DECR Communications Service, 10.12.2024.
An Orthodox parish of All Saints has been established in Incheon, the South Korea’s third most populous city. This is the fifth Orthodox parish in the Diocese of Korea, the Diocesan press service reports.
Premises for celebrating the services have been rented in the Russian-speaking quarter of Incheon, where a significant number of people from the CIS countries live. A temporary iconostasis has been installed in the church, and the necessary church utensils have been purchased.
On December 8, the 24th Sunday after Pentecost, Archbishop Feofan of Korea celebrated the first Divine Liturgy in the newly formed parish. Having gathered for the divine service were Orthodox faithful living in Incheon and the nearby cities of Ansan, Gimpo, and Bucheon. The parish was established at their request.
Before the Liturgy, the archpastor celebrated a prayer service, at the end of which the church walls were sprinkled with holy water.
Archbishop Feofan was assisted by hierodeacon Nektary (Lim). During the Divine Liturgy, most of the worshipers received Holy Communion.
After the divine service, Archbishop Feofan delivered a sermon and thanked all the worshippers for their help in opening and setting up the new parish.
