On commemoration day of St. John the Theologian, Divine Liturgy was celebrated at his burial site near Ephesus in Turkey

On the 9th of October, commemoration day of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, Priest Georgy Sergeyev, who provides pastoral guidance to Russian-speaking Orthodox Christians in the territory of the Republic of Türkiye, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in a church located at the burial site of the Holy Apostle in the Turkish town of Selçuk near Ephesus.
Among those who attended the divine service were Russian-speaking Orthodox Christians from Istanbul, Izmir, Didim and Kuşadası, as well as a group of pilgrims from the Moscow Region.
During the Litany of Fervent Supplication, special petitions were offered and a prayer for the Holy Rus’ was read. Most of the worshippers partook of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
After the Liturgy, Rev. Georgy Sergeyev delivered a sermon. He thanked the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism for giving permission for the celebration of the divine service. He also expressed gratitude to Mr A.V. Ponomarev, chairman of the Solzhenitsyn Society for the Study of Russian Language and Culture in Izmir, for assistance in organizing the pilgrimage for the worshippers.
