Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations meets with a delegation from Lebanon.

On 22nd July at the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate a meeting was held between the chairman of the DECR the metropolitan of Volokolamsk Anthony with a delegation from Lebanon headed by Mr. Sardeddin Sadr, the son of the renowned preacher, politician, religious leader, theologian and philosopher Ayatollah Seyoida Musa Sadr.
Metropolitan Anthony warmly greeted the guests within the walls of the Department for External Church Relations. During the discussion the metropolitan, in particular, acquainted his guests with the work of the Russian Orthodox Church in interacting with the Muslim world and by way of example pointed to a number of forums for interreligious dialogue.
In turn, Mr. Sardreddin Sadr spoke about his father who was a convinced supporter of dialogue between religions and an authoritative religious leader who did not enjoy an easy destiny. The sides discussed the role of religious leaders in the current climate and emphasized the need for religious dialogue. At the conclusion of the meeting the parties expressed their that cooperation would be possible.
The guest was accompanied by the daughter of imam Musa Sadr Maliha Sadr, the Lebanese judge Hassan Shami, the lawyer Gasali Jesef and the journalist and general director of the Maraya International media platform Fadi Bu Dyja.
Also taking part in the meeting was deacon Sergei Nesterov from the secretariate of the DECR for interreligious relations.
